Communication is comprised of speech and language. Speech is how we say what we say. It is comprised of articulation, voice, and fluency.
Articulation is the ability to use our teeth, tongue, lips, and hard palate to produce sounds, words, and sentences. An example of an articulation error is the substitution of one sound for another - "wed" for "red"
Voice is the use of our vocal folds and breath to create sounds. Examples of voice disorders include laryngitis, vocal nodules, vocal fold paralysis
Fluency is the continuity, smoothness, rate, and effort in speech production. Fluency disorders include stuttering and cluttering
